I'm sorry if this has already been posted, and I know I should really have looked around the forums and the site more carefully so pleas excuse my ignorance. Is there a place on the site where users (zombie survivalists) can view maps and see how many other people there are in their area? This would especially be helpful when traveling to a new area just so we have an idea of who we are going to have to meet up with.
EDIT:

Hmmm, i know of no such thing, but it has been thought about by many users. It would be very, VERY useful on the site
The one word that describes how i live: B.E.B.Z
(Bullets, Explosions, Babes, Zombies)
Oh, yeah, you heard me! THE MUPPET SHOW SAID SO!!!
The closest thing I can think of is the user groups. IE S.E.T.Z.E.R.
"If you find the path ahead easy, you are probaly going the wrong way."
I'll have to check that out later tonight. It sure would be nice though to get to know the people closer to your own area. For safety purposes I wouldn't include the persons address, but to be able and search by city or general area would be nice. At least then you can talk with your immediate area and have a plan set in motion of where to meet up.
There is a map, however, at this point, I can't remove user information. I will make the map public when I can remove the specific user location.
I want to make it so that someone can't come on the site and start stalking a particular user by having their location mapped out for them. Any suggestions as to what I should do to provide both privacy and access when needed?
All that needs to be said is this: FIRE = BAD
Well, the first thing to do, which is obvious, is make it so that only Users who want to can put their whereabouts on the map.
Other then this, I can't say. I'm computarded remember, and I don't exactly know what and what can't be feasible.

Eliot - Site Admin agrees;
"Yendor makes an interesting point."
A suggestion might be to put the location the user(s) are going to use as a fallback point, that way the user(s) home(s) aren't on there. Or, maybe put a place agreed upon by all the users in that area that a ZPI member can go to contact users in times of emergency.
You don't need to know what is possible or not. The only thing we are limited in is that choices need to be universal and and that any choice must be reported to the system.

Thats the idea of the groups. If there is a suggestion for a better way to implement it, let me know.

Thanks for working on this Eliot, once you get it up it will be a valuable resource.
Allow people to make their own decision as to if they want their information displayed or not. Such as .... a google map that can be edited by anyone. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=113516692108881322495.00044c1857f9420a2b903
DUN DUN DUN!!!
I would suggest just marking your area on these maps, not your actual home location or maybe even not your street, but maybe a nearby milestone. For instance, I live in Eden Prairie, but I marked on the map the Eden Prairie shopping center.
Thoughts?
Map of ZPI users locations and safe houses, feel free to add yourself, but don't provide actual home location!
