one word "MOAT"

I'm thinking a big moat surrounding your house, or whatever you're using for protection. it'd have to be big though, and water wouldn't work because they dint breath, unless you're in a mass rabies outbreak situation(i.e 28 days later). maybe if you filled the bottom with spikes? then you would have to clean out the bodies every once in awhile, or at least get them off the spikes, so other zombies can fall on the spikes. I'm thinking the best idea would be making it really deep and wide so they just fall in there and can't get out. what do you think the best moat would be?

I'm not a big fan of moats... Personally, I see them prohibiting one's easy withdrawl from a Zed situation then obstructing Undead. My reasoning? One would have to dig very deep and wide to stave off any force of Undead. As more and more pile up in the pit, eventually a carpet of Undead will permit subsequent waves to continue onward into your defense. And I wouldn't want to jump, or walk across a bridge, with dozens or hundreds of Undead gnashing their hungry maws below me, reaching up toward my legs to try and pull me down into a nightmare of Cannibalistic horror...

If I had to construct some kind of moat, I'd prefer to have some kind of machinery rigged up within it to allow the slicing and dicing of Undead before they pile up. As infeasible as that sounds, it's the only way I'd be happy with a moat.

maybe if you cleared them out every so often with fire or something? i probaly wouldn't use this strategy either, but i'd still consider it like all other strategies.

I'm on the fence when it comes to moat. Not really for digging one around my home. Although I still think about adding a few deep trenches at certain areas close to where I live as tank traps. Some of the natural features of the land work almost the same way.

At least if the moat doesn't work on the zombies it'll keep the black knight at bay.

I have had an idea of creating a huge 11 foot sink hole for zombies to fall into and then get trapped. From there, you could throw a shit load of diesel in there and light them up.

Oo Oo Oo What if we got one of those giant rotating slicers used to harvest wheat behind a tractor?? We could put that at the bottom and just slice em to lil ribbons?

Ok, yeah, it was stupid... nevermind.

I like the idea of a trench... Ultimate fantasy train cars with tiny gun holes cut in them with covers welded so they can be closed, buried into the ground and connecting. Then camoflauged to look like miniature mounds of dirt.

As for a full moat, preferably not for me, but some trenches and holes would definitely NOT hurt to have. I'm just apprehensive about setting up anything too permanent in the first little while... I don't know the deal, so I don't want to build a fort to keep out Zeds just to have it fall to say... Zombified Bears or some crazy shi-ite like that...

Okay. Well that's nice I suppose. Do explain more.

Oh great, Hadji is going to declare a holy war on Canada for one word in that.

Try digging an outhouse pit, on your own: 5' x 3' x 3' then we'll talk about digging a moat.

Bring it. I'll do a crude diagram and post 'er.

*EDIT* Maybe later.
