while drivin to the local SAM'S CULB i noticed that it would be a awsome place to hold up if z-day whent down metal rollin doors at the enterance fenced loading bay food to last a small group years and the place was right by a HOME DEPOT and 100 yard within PACK KNIFES i dont know if they have one in the lower 48 but they carry crossbows,swords,maces ex.. and midevil armor also veryus self defence weapons it seems like a good place to me what you z-freaks (comlement) think and id be cool to see your plans mite be (first submited forum topic go easy on me pls and new to the site too)

Yeesh. I was looking at Anchorage, AK on the map and I gotta say, I can't tell whether to call it the ideal location or the worst choice ever:

As I looked around, seeing the Sams Club and all the stores close together less than a couple of miles from fresh water (Russian Jack Springs Park -- it seems to have fresh water, but is it drinkable?) with all those homes around. But it is RIGHT in the MIDDLE of Anchorage. Such that if it gets bad, you are screwed and very unlikely to make it out alive at that point.
All that needs to be said is this: FIRE = BAD
i see your point once you think about it i dont think having a home depot near by will help not like the zombies wont attack you while goin to get supplies from there or constructing defences around it unless coordinated distractions are set in motion but most likely to attract more but check out fire island by anchorage nice place to step up shop if you have a boat but if you do you can make runs into the city for supplies or goin to one of the many villages and small towns near by thx alot for the feed back

Place in my town? The Amouries.
1) It is well designed against mass rioters, which is basically what Zombies are.
2) It's a focal point for military, so I would be havin' alot of buddies around who know how to handle a weapon.
3) The cop shop is literally a stones throw away, so even more professional personnel pertaining to violence and civil unrest.
4) It's on the edge of town, easy to withdraw from if necessary.

I would stay in my house. Hurricane shutters mounted, ammo, food, and supplies inside. Maybe build an area outside totally fenced (roof and walls) in for an outdoor garden, generator access, and roof access for solar panels. Pretty self-contained with a well and septic tank. Only dependency on the outside world would be electricity, but that is where a solar house would fit in.

Dispite all the warnings to the contrary, i still rekon my school is the best for our area. 10 mins walk away is a lot of small buisnesses, a lybrary, supermaket and a sword shop. ok, the swords are displys and would probably snap, but as there are alot of them, we can loot the shops and retreet to the school.
I have said in an earlier post how well defended the school is and it has a large sports feild for growing crops. One possible problem at the moment is that Australia is currently on water rationing due to a severe drought.
Facts, not emotions or myths should be in every school and houshold in the world to deal with global threats.
Go to a private community. With walls all around, and a gated entrance (which you can board up) the only con would be dealing with other people. If you can push yourself to do it, kick everyone out and you will have enough food and supplies to last yourself and a few others a while.

Or you could provide protection for those already in the private community, and work together. You don't just kick someone out and send them to their death.
