I do not know if any of you are handy with electronics or not, but, I am getting ready to test what is shown in this video I found on youtube.
I have done some poking around, and discovered, that what you see in the video is not movie magic.
Okay, here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9mwGeDAxhk&NR=1
And here's another link supporting what I had found on youtube. http://www.angelfire.com/80s/sixmhz/infrared.html
I don't know about you, but, I find that this may play an interesting role in night time survival, and travel.
One idea that I would like to see is mounting the camera to a rifle, and relay by wire what you see, so you could have a gun set in a remote location (with a remote trigger) that could be used as a night defense.
Or, just using it with a scope for some late night sniping action...
Poor Man's F.L.I.R. Attach a couple of these to a vehicle, and have monitors inside? If set correctly, lights may not be needed if you are trying to keep the element of surprise on your side.
Hey, keep it simple, just use it as a pair of NVG's and call it a day!
The possibilities are endless. Have fun!

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate,as overthrown by strangers.
Or at least that what it says in my wife's book. (the bible)
Dammit. Now I have to go to Lows in the morning. Though I'd like something a little more hands free... Also two cameras with two view finders so that I have a little more depth perception. Oh Garage sail season, how I wait for your arrival with $5 camcorders from the fifties...

Learn how to brew. There would be a massive shortage of alcohol in a Z-Day situation. I am not talking about how everyone else knows how to brew, I can brew like that. I am talking about "OMG - I can sell this to Jesus and he would pay well for it" kind of brewing.
As for the youtube channel - I am hooked now. Thanks.
This makes me sad this didn't get more comments.
I am over budget on my downloads for the month so I am not going to watch the vids but I presume he used a video camera that has night vision mode and hooked up a whole bunch of IR LEDs to it?
If so there is a problem.
anyone with their LEDs turned off can see your beam of light.

LOL that's like the ultimate form of "selling ice to the eskimos"... the dude can turn water INTO wine
Actually, no, he actually took the view finder from one of those huge 80's video cameras, and used a different camera lens, an array of led's, and a small project box. The other thing he did was add a plug so you could attach the camera to a television set and view on a normal sized monitor. Let me see if I can get a diagram for you.
This image came directly from that second link in the O.P. Once you get the download capability back, you may want to watch that how to video too, which was that Youtube link that I had listed.
