Remove the filter. Censorship of us all due to the unthoughtful acts of others is absurd.
Remove most of the filter and leave only the most absolute offensive words, ie. the F-word, The S-word, etc.
However filtering words like hell is a bit far.
Another thing I would suggest would be to make exceptions for chapters of books as a filter can detract from the fun.
Basically doing all this would ensure that only the stuff that should absolutely be filtered would be filtered.
I admit that I was fully behind the filter, however I admit I was wrong in that respect. I understand that it was to lighten the load on the mods but it went to far.
To destroy a being whilst they are unrepentant is to preserve the being in body and spirit, so long as this remains true the people of the world shall always be free.
Whats the point of swearing? SERIOUSLY?! WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL?! Is it so fantastically artistic to use words that have negative meaning in every aspect of their use? Is it expected of you to use these words in every aspect of your life even though you are supposedly trying to be a part of an information society?
When a word has absolutely no informational value of it other than "Shock" value then that word is absolutely meaningless. How are we censoring what you have to say other than asking you or filtering out that you do not use a specific list of words that would be dubbed offensive in your culture.
How, specifically, are we censoring your content? We never stopped your meaningless conversations about how you love Dead Frontier and would love to blow their Administration. We never told you that you couldn't say certain things about how Slash is a raging alcoholic that loves it when you brick him in the face when hes waiting for his short bus to pick him up at school.
We asked you to do one specific thing, and NOBODY WANTS TO ATTEMPT TO HELP US. With this being said, SCREW OFF!
As for my vote - I think it would be grand if we could keep the filter, remove some of the words that are commonly not offensive due to context and remove the filtering capabilities on Book Pages.

NIE, honestly, I don't cuss very often. When I do I use it for effect. I understand that it has become a problem with some users, I do. I understand that some people take things to far, like personal attacks. Why don't we censor all of those? Your entire message would be blotted out. Yes, you're a mod. That's cool and all, but that does not give you the right to lay into people like that. Get down off of your soap box.
Id like to think that certain words are not actually bad words, like the opposite of heaven, and a child with unmarried parents, as well as another word for a donkey. Id call these acceptable in speech. The filter is ok as it is. I respect the filter and notice that it is here for the protection of minors... So why complain? Do we really need to curse??? There are a ton of words in the english language, why use curse words instead of all the other synonyms?
"If every man fought only for his own convictions, there would be no wars."
"Revenge is the act of passion, vengeance is an act of justice."

I used your comment as an example, not using YOU as my specific target. I was addressing that to everyone on this website. Those who have went against the grain since day one, those who consistently test our boundaries, those who consistently are unhelpful little pricks. Did you think this was a personal attack against you because you felt guilty of my words, or was it just because I quoted you? If it was the latter, then God's Speed when I do get onto my soap box.
We do not censor personal attacks because there is a fine line between a personal attack and a normal argument between two people. When someone finds it becoming too personal, we zombify it. Do you not see that happening? I see it happening all the time.
Now I'll admit I swear a lot when I talk but what of the things like I and some other users have been doing? in light of swearing using symbols and what-not? is that as bad because I can work on that too if need be, or are those substitutions acceptable?
It's better to burn out than to fade away......

Umm, Im not sure why anyone would want to curse all the time anyway.. Its relatively pointless outside of its basic ability to gather the attention of the audience. I do curse often, mostly during very important or stressful situations. I do not, however, condone the pointless every-other-word cursing done by some. Id rather if the mods started a two-bit cursing rule (Where you may curse once each two sentences. Its relatively simple, but surprisingly effective)

I did not think that you were addressing me personally, but I did feel that you were a bit harsh.

The point is that everyone is being punished for the actions of a few retards. And you have essentially limited us to the language used in a 4 year old's television program.
