Ugh, it always changes, in the medieval times it would have been "Aye Wallace get yer longsword, tha nightwalkers are comin". In the older days, it would have changed to "Jimmy get ya blunderbuss, I just saw my dead parents eat my brother". Now its different, people are aware, and it sounds more like: "Its Z-day, get your automatics and ammunition and lets GO!". Instead of the usual stupidity on where to go during Z-day that always ends up being a cellar, I think we should take a better look at where to go during such an event. I personally believe if I had a choice of select materials, vehicles, and weapons to use, that these decisions would let me survive for many months.
To start, In a zombie filled environment its hard to find a secure place to stay. Here is a few things to help.
Find several places to stay temporarily, usually within several miles of your primary safety zone. This allows you to stay safe during night hours without having to worry about making it all the way back to your primary safety zone.
Secure your zones with quickly accessible doors, (elevators and ladders work nicely for escaping zombies quickly) and use melee weapons to batter away any zombies that follow you.
If you drive something, use the sunroof for quick access to the outside world and access to your safety zone.
Keep entertainment handy, even if its old tapes of Bill Cosby or crappy magazines. Its bad to be bored during a zombie attack.
Travel during early light hours to maintain the greatest visibility of your flesh-eating brethren. Pick off these suckers with long range weaponry whenever you can, less zombies to risk your lives near further on the road!!!
Vehicles, they are important, but very costly in resources. Here are some helpful tips to allow safe transportation.
Utilize gasoline, wherever you can find it, whenever you can find it.
Use gas conserving vehicles like mopeds and motorcycles.
Mopeds and such can be rode with one hand, so don't you think the other hand could be more useful holding a pistol???
Keep your keys in the ignition, since I doubt zombies will explore and drive away your vehicle.
Keep gas cans stored on or in your vehicle, for special situations where you need some extra fuel.
KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR FUEL LEVELS, ITS BAD TO BE ON EMPTY WHEN ZOMBIES ARE AFTER YOU.
Weapons, they kill to save lives.
Keep a full arsenal on hand if possible, comprise this of the following weapons if possible.
Keep in mind that some ammunition will be less common than others, so carry popular weapons.
A long range scoped rifle, for larger groups of zombies that need to be eliminated at a safe distance. (The farther the better, as long as you are accurate)
An automatic rifle for medium range scuffles. (Mind your magazine size and keep a spare handy)
A shotgun for those who sneak up on you. (Dont forget to reload after a small battle)
A melee weapon such as an axe or a machete for when reloading takes too long.
Use soccer equipment, yes soccer equipment, for protection. (How awesome would it be to NOT be bitten on the arm because of some quick thinking and soccer pads?)
Things to avoid:
NEVER travel at night. Nuff said.
NEVER pass up the chance to get ammunition, you never know when you will get another chance.
DONT use chainsaws, yeah they look cool and stuff, but they use valuable gasoline and need to be primed and started. (that equals death)
DONT ever, ever, EVER use a number passcode door.
What now? Find survivors and replicate. Save humanity and save the world.

Wow, you said a mouthful. But do you see those links on the toolbar on the top of the page? They're full of articles that address just about all of these issues. The rest of them are in regular posts.
This is a major case of search before you post. I'm fairly certain I've already sent you a PM in which this little rule was bolded there too. Within that PM is also the links to a few posts and articles that would help you avoid posting walls of text that have already been gone over numerous times.

really you didnt see the staying alive tab at the top of the page? you didnt even have to search it was just there so you can browse. with the amont of text you wrote I think this counts as an epic failure
call me criptangel......... shot gun 400$......shell 10$........destroyed zombies.......priceless

This is more of an issue of restating what some people take for granted. Instead of just leaving one top link, I think some people should be reminded of these basic things. (Then again im just making excuses for myself. And I didnt really read anything at all......... I guess I learned my lesson)

Actually, after looking at these top tabs, I see that some of these topics are untouched. And this is probably more suitably noted as a compilation of those tabs. For the people who want to just delve right into everything without going to numerous pages or searching through topics.

you do know that at some point this post will also evetually be sunk into the ocean of old forums and then people will still have to use the search bar to find it, you know like your supposed to in order to find a topic.

Use the search bar and you'll probably find the rest of them. The good thing about that is that these articles and posts were made to go into individual topics in-depth to cover all aspects of them.

Im not going to pretend that I didn't do anything stupid, because I did. I really cant pretend anyway. Im very sorry about posting something this useless when I didnt even do the research. I really will check the tabs above next time. Im still getting familiar with these "tabs" and their uses. I really do thank you for telling me about this again and I promise I wont neglect the tabs.
No need to be sorry, new member mistake. But, I do suggest you take a look at those links I sent you via PM.

Coolhand, I am going to spell this out for you, and please do not take me as being a bully or a jerk, in the upper left hand corner you will see a search tool, it is vital that you use this before making any other new topics, otherwise it may end up like this one. Then, across the top you will see icons, each covering different topics here on ZPI. Finally, there is Chat, where you can speak with other members who are signed into the chat room. (I recommend you open that link in a separate tab.)
That said, I am going to leave you with a few things that will help you become an elite member of this page.
