I've noticed a pretty big uprising of this lately: many people have atrocious language skills on this site. Is it really that hard to properly format a simple sentence? Putting a period in there and making your sentence make sense goes a long way towards allowing readers to understand your post, and taking it seriously. If you think you have a good idea, articulate it so readers don't have to take three times as long to read it. A little mistake here and there isn't a big deal, but when you've got sentences that look like they may have been typed by a chimp, you need to do a little proofreading before posting.
If you say it takes longer to do this, its because you haven't practiced it much. If you constantly type and write as though you're turning in an English paper, it becomes second nature to you. Not only will it be more aesthetically pleasing, but typing quickly and typing well is a valuable office skill which just about nobody can escape these days.
Now, for those of you who type well, this is not for you and you know it. But, if you find that you don't have any capital letters or periods within your posts, you need to read over it before you hit that Submit button and ask, "Does this make any sense?" If you have to think about it, make it better.
EDIT: The members of the site and I are willing to be understandable towards those who may not use English as a first language. However, don't use it as an excuse not to work on English while you're here.
I'd like to stress that we don't expect writing to be flawless, because nobody's perfect. All we ask is that you try to make your posts as intelligible as possible.
Friends, is proper English so hard?

Thank you Captain. I've been waiting for this to come up. Again, thank you.
Thank you Rads thank you.
Can we name names?

'Cause I tried berating someone about it and my page and a half long rant was lost because they don't accept PM's.

I don't know that its necessary unless that person staunchly refuses to start improving their language skills. Then we start heckling them and metaphorically(or physically, if you're lucky) poking them with sticks.

Captain, you are on point with this!!! I for one am completely sick of some of you, (you know exactly who you are) who fail to see that the word YOU has three letters, as opposed to how some of you lazy people spell it u.
We have been posting reminders for most of you to go back and read the site rules, and most every time I zombify a topic, I post links to them and other important parts of this page. So below, I am going to lay it out plain and simple, a quote from our site rules:
Rule #2: Be Smart.
The Zombie Preparedness Initiative is a place for ideas. We embrace those who take time to think and prepare properly for all events. We should hope you take time to think about what you want to say and then take the time to say it properly. Submitting articles, making posts, or creating stories that lack proper forethought, grammar, or spelling, or posts that make us wonder why, dear lord, why we took the time to read will get you a warning and a ban quite quickly. Using an abundance of swear words or profane language will quickly make the admins and moderators question your intelligence and probably earn you a ban. What constitutes swearing? If it's allowed on network television, it will be allowed here, at least in moderation. Even words like damn, hell, bitch, etc. should be limited as they are words that create emphasis when used properly, but become distasteful if used too freely. Furthermore, use of leet-speak or AIM-speak or signing of your posts will bring about the wrath of the admins and, when used too freely, makes the poster susceptible to banning. Finally, any activities that the moderators or admins deem to be disruptive or would break any of the aforementioned rules purposefully will earn that person an immediate ban.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That said, I am through with issuing warnings, and taking the time to correct your poor grammar and spelling, if you cannot figure out how to right click a word that is underlined in red due to its being misspelled, I am just going to start banning you from now on. That goes for swearing too. The time for warnings is over, all of you have seen me correct posts time and again, and you still haven't learned. I am not going to list names, but there are more than a few of you that this is pointed at.
Taste the salt of my tears
Take the wealth of my years
Singing in the millennium with you
Resolutions for show
Old ways don't seem to know
Singing in the millennium with you

I got a new Boar Spear if that helps.

GO SARGE!!!!

Lazy arse seal of approval.

It's not lazy, it's simple. I could make it complicated but sometimes the simplest things are the best.
Indeed. My seals took about five minutes in Photoshop, and I have yet to break any of them out.
