New computer

artillerysmith Posted: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 19:28

I have a problem. I found a computer in a trash pile. Probalby thrown out by an incredibly dim individual. It's an XP profesional system and it appears to have a good deal of info on it. The only problem is that it's password protected. Anyone who can tell me how to bypass a pasword protection pleas come forward. It's really beginning to urk me that I can't have this computer for my own.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure that will kill the opperating system...

You can reset the bios by moving a pin on the motherboard I've been told this works. Poke around the net and you should be able to figure it out.

Not positive it will work but it's worth a shot. And let me know if it works always wanted to try it myself but never have.

go to your local computer store and tell them your EX-girl friend changed your password and you cant get in to it. It worked for me , for free

starting in safe mode works, then you just remove the password

Damn, that's the most obvious solution (I feel dumb now). sstgallo is 100% on that one unless the Admin account is password protected. If that's the case good luck.
Pertaining to my earlier post You can still try resetting the bios if you cant find the pin or the motherboard doesn't have one, you can just pull the battery for a half hour-hour or so. After looking I think resetting the bios would just clear the bios password though and I doubt that's the one your having problems with. Not 100% on that but that's what it looks like. Chances are you've already got it figured out but either way good luck and good find, people seem to throw away anything these days.
