6 meal plan

DeadApe Posted: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 12:54

I know this doesnt have alot to do with a zombie apocalypse but it does have to do with food, nutrition & health. Alot of fitness articles talk about eating 6 small meals a day along with exercise to bulk up. However these articles are never specific on what to eat and where to get it.
1. I was wondering if anybody knows of a 6 small meal plan that is friendly to those who dont plan on going out and spending a ton of money.
2. Would a 6 meal plan be helpful in a zombie apocalypse? Or would it just be a waste of excess food.

Ramen noodles, yum. I would also suggest Vienna Sausage in the many different flavors offered as a cheap storing option. Spam is an excellent choice too. Various kinds of nuts such as cashews, peanuts, and almonds. Any diet should include plenty of water intake.

Are you aiming to bulk up or are you talking about survival rations?
I do have some experience in bulking and cutting down, for weightlifting/bodybuilding.

Interested in bulking up, Im a skinny kid. Chilbert, you mentioned ramen noodles. When I ate alot of top ramen I was told (by my parents) that the stuff is horrible for you. Whats your take on it?

Well, if you visit Nutrition Data.com on the subject, they give you a clear break down of the vitamins, nutrients, and other things you get from the noodles in question and beef flavoring. Now, this next site tends to put it into a better perspective by clearing some of the nutrition jargon. Here is a site with tips on how to make ramen healthier.

Now, in my personal opinion, I think the noodles are great because they provide a cheap alternative for those looking for something to eat that is filling and yummy. I like to add cashews to mine. I know this is another thread on the forum that covers some other ramen noodle tips.

For much more information on ramen and health, you might want to refer to This Page.

I hope this helps you. Smiling

One more thing, I found this really cool instructable on making your own MREs.

You know you can eat ramen without cooking it right?

On feeling full, you can trick your body into thinking it's more full than it is by increasing your intake of water (forced hydration).

I think that Friz was trying to concentrate on when water is not readily available, but then you should probably not be eating anything because digestion takes more energy than you will probably have to spare. You can survive much longer on water than on food alone. Valid argument nonetheless, ramen doesn't take long to cook.

Thanks alot Chillbert those links really helped. Its mostly the flavor pack thats bad for you, the noodles on their own are just the same as any kind of pasta. Guess ill be cooking some top ramen up tonight.
