The rules say no religious rants, so let's not have a rant, let's have a calm, mature discussion with proper spelling and grammar. I've noticed a few different religious opinions and so I thought, why not have a debate?
If you decide to post, explain yourself a little. Don't just say, "I'm pagan LOL!" If you really are pagan, explain why. If you have nothing good to post, don't post it.
Let's keep this clean. That means no personal attacks, no insulting other religions, no hitting below the belt, and no stereotyping. If I see any of that I'll start flagging. If this gets too out of hand, I'll zombify it myself and will deal with the offender or offenders personally.
Remember, we're stating opinions here, not facts.
EDIT: Please don't make up a religion on the spot just so you can talk about something. Making one up to mess with people is not only disrespectful to them, but wastes time which could be used talking about something serious. If you have a serious set of your own beliefs, we would love to hear them. Otherwise, keep things legitimate.

I think I'm just going to pull up a chair, and go ahead and start laughing.....because I don't think this will last long.
What is there to debate? Is there a point we are just making a counter point to? or are we just saying,
Jimmy:"hi, I am Jimmy, and I am a Catholic"
everyone : "hi Jimmy"
Ellie "Hi I am Ellie, and I am jewish"
everyone : "Hi Ellie"
Ackhmed : "Hi I am Ackhmed and I am sure you can already guess my religion... and I hate Ellie"
After the twist, you'll feel a snap and the body goes ragdoll on you.

It's a controlled discussion of religion, or lack thereof. For example:
I'm an atheist because I don't agree with numerous things other religions promote. I also don't agree with worshiping a higher power which demands my respect, yet will not reveal itself nor give any indication of its existence.
Agree or disagree, or discuss, do as you will.

I am an atheist because I don't believe in a higher power that would theoretically be in control of us or have already predetermined our lives.
I also can't believe in a deity that would create us with so much hatred and ignorance, and the ability to do so much evil unto one another.
Yep. Those are my two main reasons.
Men and women make their own decisions based on free will, just because a person can be cruel, mean, what have you, doesn't mean they should. You and everyone else (I believe) has the right to do whatever they please, but be mindful there are consequences both good and bad for every decision.
Gwild is probably right about this not lasting too long...

My family has raised me as a Catholic, but personally I don't agree with any Catholic traits other than being kind to others and treating them how u would want to be treated. If I had to choose what religion I would be, it would be Budhist because I personally can agree with a lot of budhist philosophy or I would practice one of the many Native American religions since I strongly believe in spirits and that simple forms of life like a tree can have a spirit.
Would you like a side of EPIC with that FAIL?
Good one, I had to look that word up...clever, lycanthrope.
I am not saying that it's not possible for "us" to have this conversation, I am saying that I will be watching it pretty close just in case it gets out of hand. I have faith in the site members, but I also know that Religion is "one of those topics" that make people really defensive really quick. It takes less than a second for defense to turn into offense. That's what I'm worried about...

Probably, but I can hope. I'd think there's enough sensible people on the site to have an intelligent thing to say or not say it at all, but I might be expecting too much...it is still the internet.

I'm not trying to split hairs here, but do you mean you'd follow a Buddhist religion or merely the philosophy?
'Pure' Buddhism is based on the teachings of the Buddha, where Buddhist religion still holds the concepts of deities.
