US member's buy list...

It has come to my attention of the current regime change. Being aware of local laws is also important to survival. Therefore I'm simply going to list a few things for our US members to purchase. October 29th a lot of dealers/wholesalers in most places sold out of pretty much everything people expect to be banned. It is harder than ever to keep kalashnikov clones, ARs, high capacity magazines, and AR uppers/lowers on the shelves. It's only going to get worse and the prices are going to keep rising.

Anything semi-automatic long gun that is based off a military firearm, has ever been used by the US military or police, or looks like something that has:

Kalashnikov's
FALs
M1As
H&K-91/CETME/PTR-19
Practically every semi-auto shotgun made to date.
AR-15s
M1 rifles
M1 Carbines
AR-15-AUG conversions
Etc.

Ammunition. Lots and lots and lots of ammunition.

Any pistol or revolver. Especially pistols that meet the same criteria as the semi-auto long guns mentioned above.

If it's a .50 caliber or bigger and you can afford it. By all means purchase it.

Any and all spare parts you can get for the firearms you purchase.

Any detachable magazines for your firearms, springs, base plates, followers, or any parts used for repair. In H.R. 1022 a majority of parts used to maintain pre-ban magazines were covered. Making sure there would be no more sold long term. Buy a few for firearms you don't have. You won't lose money.

Anything that isn't essential to the firearm that you want. Collapseable stocks, folding stocks, barrel shrouds, laser sights, pistol grips, holsters, bayonets, slings, etc. Even for slide-action rifles.

Optics with “tactical reticles". Red dot, mil-dot, etc.

Body armor. At least threat level II.

4"-8" heavy duty SDR PVC pipe, grease (or cosmoline), and end caps. Just in case things get really bad.

If you want to gamble I expect another expanded SAW ban before 2010 is over. I will place $250 on the table for anyone who is willing to gamble on it not happening. If anyone is not familiar with the previous SAW ban it basically said "After this date you cannot buy 'semi-automatic assault weapons' (which are basically semi-firearms with random features picked or that just look scary) or any detable magazine with a capacity of over ten rounds." Which was a lot of firearms. Luckily most rifles could still be sold since the manufacturer made quite a few without all the "evil features". Unfortunately H.R.1022 proved the gun control advocates could learn. It now covered all firearms that would make it past the previous SAW ban, a large number of firearms that were not even covered by the previous SAW ban, detachable magazines, and repair parts.

Other things I expect? I'll put another $250 that two of the following will pass if the blue dogs toe party line a majority of the time:

Micro-stamping
Ammunition encoding*
Ballistic finger-printing
Laws prohibiting the sale of firearms within X-number of miles of a school, place of worship, park, historical marker, etc.
Arsenal laws (over ten firearms, may count magazines as firearms, restriction of no more than 1-2k rounds of ammunition, etc.)
Lead ammunition ban
Higher taxes on firearms and ammunition
.50 caliber ban
Expansion of "Armor-piercing" ammunition legislation.
Ban on all private sales of firearms.

*First proposal that popped up required disposal of all non-coded ammunition and with no compensation to the owner.

All of which are a waste of time and money.

Don't have much to say now. I've made a five year commitment that I cannot back out of. So I'm simply going to purchase most of the items listed above and put them back until I can no longer do so. After that I'll be purchasing a few more knives, taking more lessons in Western boxing, knife fighting, and probably take up learning a little Hapkido (thanks for the suggestion Slash). On the list thing it's going to be fun finding someone to teach me let alone teach me in street clothes. Once all that is taken care of I'll be putting more money into food storage and production of booze. That way if things really go into the crapper people will still be able to get sloppy drunk.

lucky for you your list is much longer than mine. being that I always live in a state where SAW laws still apply (california) I can't get any of the SAW ban guns. I might be able to afford one off-list AK74 by the time obama takes office, though.

Well, for one thing, since Obama won over McCain, I've decided not the fix my SKS sear. It might be the one and only automatic weapon I'll ever own at this rate. It has a broken sear resulting in full auto slam fires, besides, I need that 80 buck to save for a 700 dollar california complaint AK rifle.

Thanks for the list and heads up Sanchez. I WILL be purchasing a gun as soon as I know I have the extra cash (after some particularly important bills are paid). I may start with a .22 rifle just to have something.

That isn't my list. However my list is much longer than yours. Only I won't be able to get everything on it. Which sucks because a certain reproduction BAR calls to me...

Make that disappear down the memory hole NOW! I'll do the same as soon as your post is edited. You're leaving yourself open to all sorts of trouble from the BATFE by keeping this information on a public forum. Many people's lives have been ruined because of their bull hockey. I don't want your's added to the list and I don't think you want that either.
