i freakin hate people like you, get my gear going decently and i think i got it made and then i see something like this and i just want to swing a cat against a wall....
awesome load out, only querk is that someone might drool over it too, but have a gun. That's the biggest problem i see with having good gear is that it makes you a more prominent target among goblins.

Actually this has been discussed a lot over at www.AR15.com and in a SHFT situation e.g. Katrina, Ike, Zombie Outbreak (if by goblins you mean "gangstas and living bad guys) the more loaded out you look the more Leroy gangbanger is going to leave you alone and move onto more "soft tagets".
There's a couple of reasons.
1:You're well equiped
2: There may be more of you. They won't know if you're .mil or .leo and there's a whole team in the shadows somewhere.
3:You're ready for a fight and most of your "goblins" as you put it (unless well organized) are cowards/bullies and won't risk getting their asses handed to them.
Also I moved some stuff on the 1st line around. I just couldn't get used to the drop-leg panel.
Cell phone use in hospitals=BAD!!!!
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for I am the badest motherfucker in the valley!
I do like that patch, as for the rifle, did it come that way, or did you do your own camo? Also, how does it hold up to heat? Impressive...
The AK is a Norinco MAK90 and came with a thumb hole stock and wooden handguards. I did the stock/pistolgrip conversion, added the railed gas tube and red dot, and camo paint job. It's the Krylon camo paint and is holding up well but is pretty easily removed with brake cleaner. I kinda took a page from the OEF/OIF guys in the box and figured a painted gun makes you less visible. If you're wearing camo clothing but carring around a big black rifle it'll tend to kinda stick out.

you say goblin like i'm the only one to ever use that word...
I'm just saying, if i were the goblin and i saw a highly loaded target that hasn't seen me yet i'm going to shoot him and take his gear IMO.
EDIT after reading your post again
do you think the average Goblin that's desperate is going to think about "others in the shadows"?... IMO again they're probably thinking "Holy Crap! this guy is loaded and alone, he's mine"

Don't worry about it Boxy. Having a setup of cool looking expensive gear doesn't mean a thing (other than you've got deep pockets or no brain). What matters most is making due with what you've got/can afford and knowing how to use it properly. Take an example from the Marines during Vietnam. Sometimes got the short end of the stick as far as equipment went. They did just what I said matters most and/or "liberated" stuff from [Army, Air Force]. So if you can do that you're good.
For the record I don't hate people who can afford cool stuff. I hate when people who don't [know how to] use what they've got just put it together and throw it in the closet thinking they're good to go.
That's a yes and a no.

How about a link to exactly what you're referring to?
That's a yes and a no.
1. I wouldn't doubt that assumption.
2. Fair assumption, reserved for less intelligent goblin.
3. Doesn't mean you're ready for a fight, and you're right about them not risking that. Which is why if your goblin is one of the more intelligent kind they might try to tip the scales in their favor.

That's a very good answer Boxy. One reason why I'm big on keeping a low profile is that some goblins have had fairly good training and probably have more than just a "street nine" stashed back in their McMansion. Two most common long guns in this county that are considered suitable for "work" are SKS rifles and low end slide-action shotguns. In capable hands both should be taken seriously no matter what stuff you're carrying. Even if you have/haven't been seen I wouldn't put it past a few goblins. After all danger doesn't wear a**less chaps and drive pink dune buggy with a horn that plays "La Cucaracha". It might, but stay cautious.
You hit the nail right on the head and almost drove it all the way concering part of the whole LE-Military look. Might fool the fools, but the smart ones will take a bit out of your hindquarters fooled or not.
Over all this little dicussion provides a valueable lesson concerning preparedness/survival:
Try to keep a low profile if possible and recalibrate your bullsh*t dector.
Officers were/are usually shot first and your biggest threat could be the guy who's standing in front of you trying to bum a smoke.
Edit: Also I do not like the idea of looking like LE/Military because real LE/Military could always show up and they might be pissed.
I'm sorry you feel that way. You may not remember but I am ex-military and have been trained in how to use my gear. In addition I've taken and plan on attending Bushido Tactical carbine/handgun classes. Just to show how little you know and you're just popping off with no knowledge yourself. Do you really think if I'll be alone on Z-Day? Do you also think that if a situation dictates discression I'd go rolling in heavy in full battle rattle? C'mon man I thought you knew me better than that. No, I haven't posted all this before. The patches were the main reason and the web gear has had some additions and rearrangements.
Futhermore if I leave the belt off the chest rig is low profile enough that it can be consealed under a light fleece or loose long sleeve button down shirt. So if this is the kind of response I'm going to get I'll stop posting this stuff. Generally there's mostly tweleve year old kids on here anymore which is why I haven't posted in months. The more money than brains comment was not nessicary because if you actually remember who I am you know I'm better prepared than just "throwing a bunch of gear in my closet and thinking I"m ready". The 1,2,3, comments (I'll try and find the post but it's in either the "Tactical Gear" or "Survival" forums) those came form current and ex LEOs and military as well as private security and instructors. Not peopel who have "more money than brains" as you put it.

That's some real nice gear you got there.
I'm prepared more on the survival half of the spectrum more than the combat half but I can't help but feel a bit jealous.
I always wonder how much good camo will do when fighting zombies though.

No need to be sorry. However you shouldn't start putting words in my mouth when you think I'm singling you or any other person(s) out. I guess I carry some blame for not posting a big ole disclaimer saying that.
I wasn't even taking your ideas to task either, because I was pretty sure you already had certain stuff covered. I was just throwing it out there for those that didn't.
If you've got the "know how" or you're getting the "know how" the know how I wasn't talking about you. I was just posting my humble opinion on why not to worry about someone else's gear and why someone should seek proper training after purchasing their own. Got it or do I need to hang a sign around my neck? Because I will.
