THE QUESTION:
What weapon would you prefer to use: a melee weapon or a gun? Or, if you prefer, a high-tech weapon or a low tech weapon?

I am periodically interested in returning to this question every few months to see what new people think. For some this may be an old boring question, but I am still curious to hear from anyone.

I want to know why you choose what you choose (I would like to hear at least 3 reasons who you made the decision) and explain any specifics or conditions. I have found this to be one of the big binaries that we find ourselves in.

All that needs to be said is this: FIRE = BAD

In the short term, a gun is great. It kills zombies instantaneously with a headshot, has the potential to go through more than one, and has excellent range and power. However, they are limited to how much ammo you have, and once out of stock you have just a shiny paperweight.

Melee weapons ('Sticks') don't have this limitation, they keep doing their damage regardless of whether they have ammo. They don't have the range, however, putting you closer to the mouth of hell (Literally). They also need some form of experience to wield effectively, unlike guns which merely require Darts-player aim depending on the model.

So overall, I have to go with gun.

Even though I lack the training, I'd much rather be in a position to use a gun. If I'm relying on melee weapons, that means i'm in the thick of zombie teeth.

At middle range I's have to go with a gun, but at long range a gun is of no use to me seeing as how I'm almost blind as a bat unless it's night. I've always trained with more melee weapons than guns, but I'd still have to say that my gun would be preferable to bashing decomposing heads any day of the week.

I'm going to have to go with guns on this one. Eventually yes, you will run out, and at that time I'll break out the bat with the nails in it.

Hey, another revived topic that I would never have seen if it hadn't been bumped, heh.

Theoretically, I could defend myself better with a gun in most cases, but I'd like something with a bayonet and wooden stock for when the ammo runs out.

being a teenager, I can't just go down to the local gun-depot and buy myself a twelve gauge soo..

I have to go with the things i have, hatchets,bats,shovels sledge hammers, I can throw a hatchet from almst 20 feet and hit my target so its kind of ranged, and after the attack, i can retreive my ammo..

I have a co2 pistol but thats a can buster no a zombie buster lol. I have a load of melee weapons though throwing knives 12" bowie knife, diving knife (my fav.) Not much but ow well ill live..........maybe not !

I would prefer to have a gun(as I am sure most of us would) , but I already have plenty of melee oriented weapons so that is what I would go with. (I don't have a gun...yet)
