Two of the guys at work and I were discussing the restoration of the country after a massive outbreak.
The suggestion being made by one man was the installation of treadmills that we lure the Z's onto that could generate free power, as we all know the cost of electricity is higher than ever now, so why not generate free energy. The only thing we need to do is fuel the Z generators, which is easy, drop a death row inmate in and let the generator feed. Look, now we do not have to pay for an expensive execution through our tax dollars, and we won't have the high energy costs.
All you have to do to get them to walk on the treadmills is put a person in front of it, just to get him/her to walk.
Eventually, the Z will decompose, and we toss it into an incinerator, which could boil water that will make steam to turn a turbine to make even more electricity.
The idea sounds far fetched, but hey, I found it amusing.

You'd need to put walls on both sides of the treadmill and a door close behind it so it can't get off. but it might be a little difficult for rotting flesh and muscles to move a treadmill.

Now think if we were able to harness the power of zombies, while they are moving, then when they are dead, the possibilities are there. I must agree with the previous poster too, walls and a door must be in place, however, I do know that just a simple walk along a treadmill will be just enough to spin it. So rotting flesh and muscle power is a feasible source of energy, but, in order for it to be plausible, you must employ several of said treadmills to generate any large supply of power. You could compound the treadmills with a generator that then powers a heating element that would contribute to the heat generated by the incineration of the spent Z's.
It just makes me wonder where this energy that is being harnessed is coming from.
Because the Muppet Show said so.
