a supply chain

Let's say you have a group of 25 survivors in a relatively safe stronghold. This is just shy of two years after Z day and over a year since the last organized governmental efforts have failed. You have established communication with a chain of similar groups over a distance of maybe 100 miles of zombie infested land. The different groups have access to a range of different supplies. There is basic respect between the groups even if everyone does not completely trust or always get along with each other (typical human stuff).

Over this area of scattered groups is the expected devistation and chaos of a zombie dystopia.

If trade proves to beneficial, how would you establish supply lines over this area? What methods would you use to transport items? What would be the most likely paths to success in this situation in your opinion?

As long as I have nothing, you can never take what's mine.

Could we get a little more information as to the area we would be operating in? Details concerning roads, bridges, railways, waterways, etc.?

I think food would be a very hot commodity. An MRE probably would be worth a case of shotgun shells.

Hhhmm, I can see people would first be giving things away or working out some sort of trade. There would be a good amount of stealing or using force to get what they want though.

I think you might have to start with law and order. Without some type of order no system will work. I beleive.

I am going to try to read up on Katrina and the Wild West. Because, It might be a good source for how things work in similar situations in society.

To give a little more framework . . . Let's say largely suburban and small towns between larger city centers that provide limited access to a range of abandoned supplies, but also create barricades to travel outside this rough hundred mile stretch. There are small rivers and lakes that cut through the region dividing some of the groups. Bridges and roads are mostly intact. There are some stretches of open roads, but there are a lot of accidents and abandoned traffic jams between survivor groups. There are stretches of woods and farmland also. There is a railroad line that follows one of the rivers, but the track is interrupted by at least two derailments within this region. There are a number of warehouses, superstores, and other hidden treasures that various groups have claimed. There is one small airport in an isolated area. It has been largely stripped of all crafts, fuel, and supplies in the early days after Z day. The buildings mostly burned from a crash, but two of the three runways are clear except for weeds. There is one larger airport in one of the city centers, but it is trashed and fairly far into infested territory. The area occupied by survivor groups is far from zombie free, but the groups have developed methods for keeping their exits clear and for making successful scavenging trips. There has been a history of intermitten, small scale bandit activity in the area.

Supply chains are a good idea if the route for the supply is well thought out and there are back-up routes. Also, there should be supply cache' depots that are well guarded yet hidden. It is a lot of planning, but it could work.
