Maybe. I'd have to think about it.

I was considering and some have shown an interest in having a Wiki on the site. There are some reasons I have hesitated to do so before, but I was curious about interest. Also, what do you think we would use the wiki for if we did put it up? Zombie Hunters.org was thinking about putting one up, but mostly about firearm reviews. What would we do with it?

Wikis are lousy for discussion, which is really all we're doing at the moment, and articles can go on the main site. Maybe sometime in the future it will be useful, but don't bother at this point.

The canonical example is the Wikipedia.

A wiki is a set of web pages that are editable via the web browser. Usually you sign up for an account, then you can edit some pages, but some wikis are totally free (and have to constantly fight spam posts). It's been said that wikis are better for people to write on than for people to read from.

Yeah. The logic is that they are better then relying on well-researched authoritative encyclopedia because an encyclopedia is only as good as who updates it, but with the Wikipedia (or other Wikis), it works because it has thousands of people working on it and keeping it updated. It keeps things up to date better, since it is updated as often as people are willing to work on it -- and with the audience having the ability to check in on it constantly, it works well.

It has no codes -- you create links to web pages that don't exist, and the Wiki creates the page from the link. Its odd. I installed one (same one as Wikipedia) to see what it was like. Check it out at http://www.zombieinitiative.org/wiki. (There's nothing there)

One useful addition to the site would be a links page; I'm seeing a lot of potentially useful links in the forums, it's be nice to have them all in one location.

Alright. Here's my list of things to do for the site:

(1) Fix Forum Colors so the Link colors show up better
(2) Add a Link page
----> do you think we should have the links page as public access?
(3) Add a function in the main site that allows people to set up communities and have people join the communities and discuss how it would be run and ....stuff.

Anything else?

Public to read? Sure. We should categorize the links a bit, and be careful what we post. I don't think we should link the Anarchist's Cookbook, for instance (sorry, Cyberdemon), because of its dubious legality. But stuff like "other zombie apocalypse survival groups", sure, no prob.

agreed. and make sure it's clear we're not affiliated with any of the linked sites. but otherwise, a great idea.

after checking out wikipedia, i'm think we prolly wouldn't have much use for one....

You know, the more I think about this, the more I think it's a good idea. However, you should make a no-tolerance policy. If someone makes an ass of themselves and spams all over the place in the wiki, ban their IP immediately.
