I was wondering if anyone had any preferences / upper limit on the number of people they'd run with immediately after z-day.
Some may prefer to stick it out on their own, so they don't have to rely on anyone, and don't get slowed down.
Others may have a small, close knit group which works well toghether.
Getting larger, the group becomes capable of suffering losses without being crippled, and there's a larger knowledge base to work from.
Or, one could just take the altruistic (or the quite opposite meat shield) approach and grab anyone they can find, and deal with resource issues as they come.

I think partially it depends on where we are going. If I am sticking to the house, 2-5 would be better, but if we are trying to travel to another location and will have a more defendable, albeit bigger, base I will want the group of ten or perhaps more to help defend it.

All that needs to be said is this: FIRE = BAD

i put 6-10...

thats a good medium size, so that you can lose a few to bites and still have a viable group (sounds harsh, but sucks to be a pair when one of you gets bit). At the same time it's small enough not to attract major attention and bring dwn the 9th zombie calvalry on you.

Once a reasonable stronghold has been established, where you feel you could last a long time against the undead, with either ernewable or otherwisevast available resources ( 5 or 6 grocery stores last a long time for 6-10 people) then go ahead and invite more. as i said in ekohan's thread, a farming base can always use an extra hand, while a city base could always use locations and intel about local groceries, gun stores, etc.

I'll go with 2-5. Ideally, you don't want to let every Tom, Dick, and Harry in. There's the problem that you may not notice if they have been bitten, they will be a major drain on resources, especially if rationed. And it's one more person you have to try and keep an eye on, to make sure they keep both of theirs

Just for the fact that I'm sure we will all lose some members of the group logically I would take anyone I can find. This would also make things like guard shifts so much more feasible. I know it's nice to think of being help up with your close friends and it being all cupcakes and marshmallows, but do you really only want one guard at night, especially the dumb friend that we all have in charge while your life is at stake?

Well I have a family of 20+ people on my mom's side and 15 or less on my dad's. I hope I can get everyone to our strong-hold. As of going out we would have a small group of 6.

I try not to make too many plans based on the comfort of having dependable others with me that can function and act.

Of course, I know what to do if I end up with people, but I don't plan to have people with me as part of my main survival strategy. Too many factors going against one in that respect.

Depending on the zombie type, i would probably take 2-5 in most situations.

With slow zombies, 2-5 people would be easy to transport and defend. More than 2-5 would be a liability.

With fast zombies, i really dont know if i can help anyone else if im on foot. With a gun, and only a few zombies to deal with, i could make things happen, but without that, i couldnt do much for others.

Cant wait for that zombie invasion

Personally i think a group of 2-3 is best! 3 people are easy to feed and shelter. Also ammo wise its also efficient! But in worse case scenario i think rolling on my own would be my best chance of survival. Simply because i dont have to look after any body else i can do what the fook i want and im probably more deadly by myself.
