I've been dwelling on this for a while. I'm torn between two choices. On one hand I can buy a pretty good sporting rifle and turn it into a distance rifle. On the other I can buy a cheap military surplus bolt-gun and turn it into a mean distance rifle. Former takes less work. Latter takes more. Either way I'm going to see if I can take whatever is purchased to the 400 yard mark and beyond.
I'm just going to tell you ahead of time. This purchase is going to be a bit costly. One I'm a bit reluctant to make and not sure I'll be able to afford. So if I can afford it I'll get it. It will be a while before this firearm retires my current distance rifle and you see a review on it. Why? Mucho to minor upgrades on whatever is chosen are more than likely going to cost more than what I pay for the gun. Same issues concerning price as seen in Six Gun Surprise apply to this as well.
Lee-Enfield No.4 MkII
Sure many of you have heard of this before. I've been meaning to add one to my collection for a while. I kept holding off because I wanted an original SMLE. However it is unlikely I'll ever get one so I'll just go with this. If something I have planned in the works goes as it should upgrades/modifications should follow soon after I get the rifle. If not, you'll have to wait. Upgrades/mods? Basic stuff just to make it shootable. That's all you need to know at the moment.
What I have planned for this little bundle of joy is going to require a gunsmith and me doing the NFA dance. I'm going to find out if I can slap a suppressor on this bad boy. Going to be very costly. Might be half a year or more before you see a review.
Mauser 98K
Been meaning to add a Mauser to my collection for the longest time. I'm not up to date on the prices, but I do know they usually go from reasonable to insane at random. Planned just like the Enfield.
Mossberg ATR .30-06
A bit reluctant to buy this since it's a bolt-gun. However it's kind of an investment and I might pass it off or trade it later on. Only reason it's here is it being very common and something the Garand fans might pick up to address ammunition issues.
The 30-06 is a mean round. I don't think that you would have a problem shooting a zombies head off at 600 yard with that kind of fire power. Well a good scope and a tri-pod helps as well

Now I've got to zombify some rappers so I can steal the "Vote or Die" slogan....
