technique for suburban travel, escape and scavaging

sovietsurvivalist12 Posted: Wed, 07/30/2008 - 01:18

So Im sitting here in my suburban house, typical cookie cutter house, small yard identical to the next. Im going throught the closet in the computer room, and i find an entrance to the attic, so Im up there diggin ghtrough my uncles old junk(it used to be his house) and i got an idea.
If I was stuck in my home after z-day couldnt i get in the attic, cut an entrance/exit hole in the roof and use a apparatus long enough to cover the gap between my house and the next.
Then continue on if m trying to escape or carry my equipment and cut a hole in that houses roof for scavenging purposes or looking for more survivors.
I know that it would be risky from possible zed or human attack but i thinkin the traveling prospect it would work, and possibly even in the scavenging and search prospect.

please input

Do you have a hand drill and I am not talking about an electric one? One of those would make your escape much easier.

Well, a good knife should be on you for a myriad of reason. Maybe a hammer as well and good solid screwdriver. Yes, I mean the hand crank ones, they can be used at any time without power and often times the power drill is either dead or on the way there if it is battery driven. You just cannot count on electricity, but you can count on your own hands.

many houses have metal vent heads and covers and the like. i would invest in a small nail puller, both for escape, and because they are darned useful.

i will invest in a nail puller,
but the roofs in my area only have these tiny little pipe vents, i can barely fit my arm down them, so that option is out.atleast for my surrounding area

A good hack saw is always needed.
