I think this would be the right place to put it... Yeah why not.
Anyway, my thought was, and I'm sorry if this has come up before, but what would happen to the animals if there was a zombie outbreak? Could they be infected? feed off? or be fed off by the zombies? And what would be the inplacations on survivors. This is purely theoretical so I don't want anyone saying that it's impossible to know or anything like that because that will kill the discussion.
My thought was that although the virus that caused people to become zombies isnt designed for humans, maybe it would be able to infect close relatives to humans such as chimps or other apes, but wont other animals, whom will become 'carriers' for the virus, making things really bad for people, especially from insects, even the most powerful anti-zombie bases wouldn't be safe ... just wondering what you guys thought.

Well, chances are that will be able to be infected just as easily as us humans. Our physology isn't really all that different. Though personally, i beleive that animals will avoid the undead, be it by instinct or just common sense.
Winning isn't a reason to get a reward but one less poke in the eye, while losing gets you two.

But what about the zombies avoiding the animals? If the zombies were unable to find food in an area would it not make sense they would attack the animals?
Don't animals have a stronger immune system than humans? If so they may be able to fight of the disease or whatever from affecting them. They'd probably just avoid zombies though since most animals avoid humans.
Because The Muppet Show Said So.

They would attempt to avoid zeds, but I am sure a few could be cornered and turned. It all matters on the virus.

Yea, i'm not saying there won't be, just not really all that likely.
yea, i'm not positive about it but i think its about the same as ours.. i know animals like pets, dogs and cats, are the same if not weaker. Which is why you don't give them chocolate.

you will notice one thing about this server, when you talk about zombies and what they can do, almost everything you bring up will not be shot down unless it is completely idiotic like zombies shooting rockets out of their arse
since we have no proof or knowledge of zombies we can't say oh they'll be like this or like that, we just hope that it won't be extreme
like the others said, i see the animals avoiding the zombies since they have a higher sense of smell and s0und than we do they'd be able to notice the zombies from a greater distance than we could and would thus avoid them, i get a Day After Tomorrow mental image of massive flocks evac-ing an area
although i will say this, i will probably soil myself if i see a zombified lion or bear
my theory:
i think that most animals would be able to become infected with this virus. of course the smaller ones like birds and such would probably just die and not come back, but on the off chance that they did, they'd be so small that unless they bit you in your sleep they would pose no threat.
It would make sense that a smaller creature such as a bird or insect would be simply killed by a virus strong enough to raise humans from the dead, or possible be able to bring them entirely back to normal life (if you look at it from a manufactured virus point of view, scientists trying to make themselves immortal, cure diseases [enter stereotype sci-fi-zombie plot] ) just imagine immortal insects, that would be really annoying.
hmmm, id say yes some animals can be infected, probably the larger of animals. however, i believe they will avoid contact from Zed's as some sort of sense they have. i think some animals wont become infect but can still carry the virus, for example, a rat runs through some zombie blood and drinks it or something along them lines, this would then prove a problem for us.
i would like to make a comment however on the part where someone said 'if a small bird or insect bites us in our sleep it wont effect us' or something along those lines, well i think it entirely depends on how strong the virus is, weather it only takes the tiniest drop of blood to fall in our eye (28 days later) or has to be a flesh tearing bite. but also think of this;
if zombiefied humans struggle to walk then i think birds or insects may find flying a little more difficult

I'd like to see a small group of zeds try to take on a buffalo herd. LIMBS FLYING EVERYWHERE! LOFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
