ok, heres the thing, im 17 in august and though my dad is prior military and owns guns and supports them, he thinks im too immature to get any for me. so for right now guns are out of my picture. a while back i linked the two machetes i want, the kopis and khukri from cold steel, i was wondering what kind of knife/knives i should be getting(btw i love knives)

i can identify to that because guns are EXTREMELY strictly controlled over here in ireland, so chances are and irish survivor won't have one unless they're a member of the defence forces. currently i have a parang knife, 2 batons, a set of nunchuks, and a bow. will this be any good against zombies???
me thinks yes, i believe that everything there will be alright except for the nun chucks but then again i can't confirm their effectiveness
Nun chucks can be effective when properly trained, but if you are not Bruce Lee I do not recommend their use. The fact that when you hit something with them you temporarily lose control of the flailing end should be enough to deter most individuals. Now those other weapons, they could really be handy.

seeing the post get off topic rather fast i will try to bring it back.. the best i can tell you is after some research i hear that 420 and 440 grade steel (same as surgical steel) is what you want. as far as carbon steel i have not done any research on that but i hear alot about carbon steel. batons are good if your strong enough to cause a mild to severe concussion with one arm i wouldnt trust it myself. currently i havent been abel to test any of the "steel" baldes i want because of the lack of funds and my own place (currently living in an apartment). i looked at cold steel alot of it seems to be for show i suggest putting your baldes to the test. unless yoou paid a crap load for it, i wouldnt.
Hmm...well if you love blades, then I suggest something that can cut 'em up, yet without getting too close (as you would with a knife, unless you were throwing).
So I'd suggest a Katana. The fact that they are slightly curved gives them a great swing, and the sharpness means it'd cut through most things pretty fluidly.
An ideal Katana would be a 14 fold, 1060 high carbon folded steel Katana. Then you could unleash some pain (not that they can feel it) but BEWARE; The blood splash will be major, and be carefull to close your mouth when striking vertically for the zombies' brain!

PS. Nunchucks are pretty useful if, like said, one is trained well. With a combination of strength (of nunchucks) and skill (of user) one can inflict lightning fast strikes to a zombies head, which could be useful depending on what type of zombie you'd be facing.
