If a mod zombifies a topic ...

Skooby77 Posted: Wed, 04/30/2008 - 14:23

because they feel it is redundant, or if they believe the topic has been covered before, maybe in their post on that topic they should include a link to the previous topic.

Just a suggestion.

that is a good idea, due to the fact that there are oh so many old topics.

The world will end not with a bang but with a wimper.

I attempted to cover what I could in the Newbie thread, but unfortunately to go through archive after archive topic and sort through them in an attempt to find one specific topic (Which often does not even have a proper heading, most of them being ... or uhhh or what do you guys think?) is a nightmare.

I do not Zombify on redundancy (At least I don't remember doing so) but if it's redundant topics turning into silly conversations because everyone has already had their say about the topic then Zombification is suitable.

This isn't the same thing that I was talking about. I am specifically referring to Mods closing a topic down and then saying that it is because the topic is redundant, but not telling the OP where the original topic can be found, or telling the OP that they "think" it was thought of by someone else and then closing the topic off.

You know ( I may have missed something here so forgive me if I have) but in the site rules, it is made very simple and very clear that

Site Rules wrote:
Rule #3: The Admins Are Always Right.
That being said, I think that if a moderator felt the need to zombify a topic, they most likely did so with good reason and therefore, their judgment should not be questioned. By becoming a member of the site, you ARE agreeing to the Site Rules. Therefore, a moderator does NOT have to give reason as to why or why not a topic is or is not zombified. However, I can assure you that Elliot would not just put people in the position of Moderator without first being fully satisfied that said person would uphold the Site Rules and do their absolute best to serve site participants in whatever way they are able. Whenever a moderator zombifies a topic or deletes it, it is probably for the good of the site and I can assure you that if it wasn't; then said moderator would receive a post from another moderator or Elliot questioning their choice to zombify or use their administrative powers. We keep ourselves in check and we do not take a malevolent approach to site management. Although, your opinion is noted and in the future I will try to accommodate your opinion, if you have a problem with a site member or more specifically a moderator; address the problem to them directly (we are not children here, we are adults or at the very least we are trying to be). I take specific offense to this topic as a whole and almost zombified it when I first saw it because I felt that the original poster was in some way trying to be a smart alec. Whether that was the original poster's intention or not does not matter to me as I am over it, just know that we are here to help you and appreciate the feedback. (With no information coming back, we don't know what people like and don't). Thank You for your time and opinions. Smiling

I am sorry but I have never been on any message board where the Mods are considered Admins. The only Admin that I know of is Elliot, so "my bad" I thought you were a mod.

Anyways, if you take offense of my suggestion, then maybe you are feeling guilty about something, because I was making a suggestion that I really think would be helpful. It was based on what you did to a topic of mine, but after it happened to me, I wondered why it had not been suggested before, or why you had not linked to the "correct" topic.

I don't actually have an issue with anyone on here, hell, I've been a member for over a year now and try and make sure I only post when something meaningful can be said, not to simply post "Meow" or some other BS. If I did have an issue with you, you would see some sort of message in your inbox.
