ok my fellow survivalists I have been here about a week so I think its time for me to reveal my "zca 2.0" (z-day course of action.)
Ok so I awake and the zeds are roamin around and my family is no where to be found, so what do I do?
1.Im grabbing my cellphone,laptop, and all of my z-day gear(keeping the bat in hand for defensive purposes) and slowly make my way outside to my car. From here I get in and drive close to the location I have chosen for the next few weeks.
2. I leave the majority of my equipment and gear in my secured vehicle except for a few weapons and tools to stake out the compound, I then quitly make my way to the back fence and scan/search the area for zeds or hostles that I will eliminate if neccessery, from here I secure the compound as well as possible from outside the perimeter and then head back to my vehicle.
3. From here I drive to the front gate of the compound(I will go into detail on the compound in greater detail if asked)the compound consists of a 40x25 foot concrete slab in the ground surrounded by a 10 foot high stell fence topped with razor wire and motion sensing. I hack the security system and enter the compound with my vehicle, I will then close the gate back up and enter the steel building with my vehicle closing the doors and hiding my presence.
4.(This step might not happen if the power grid has already failed and I have no way to power my laptop or cell phone.) I will connect the security system and cameras to my laptop and from here open up my zca 2.o file and begin contacting people of interest. calling, texting, myspace messaging all those(and those who didnt) say they wanted to be safe after z-day arrived, to those I get in touch with i tell my coordinates and give them specific instructors to bring individuals and weapons,tools,equipment,etc. that will be useful, and to hurry. For those I cant get ahold of I leave a message telling them to go to my house and at a specific location there will be coordinates to my compound.
5.For between 3 days and a week i will hold up in my compound keeping a low profile and slowly waiting for and accepting survivors. after this time I willl turn back most survivors unless they can be of extreme use to our compound.
6. After the initial chaos of the outbreak,the securing of my compound, and the assembling of my KSU(Kentucky Survivalists Unit) we will begin extended fortifications of our compound and begin to let scouting parties search for supplies of all manor. We plan on fortifying it better by using heavy equipment from the surrounding construction sites to park in front of the fences to add to its blocking capabilities.
7.Now that we have strong fortifications, a decent supply of surplus water and food, and a semi regular daily agenda we begin preperation to begin the movement of our group to a larger securable area.
8I begin the drafting,planning,and discussing the way to create our transportation because we plan to travel by water, once it has been created, tested over and over, stocked and loaded we set off...
And Im not sure where were headed from here...

what is the compond? whats it used for? how many food and water supplys will be available? and how long do you plan on staying there? how secure is the fence? these are questions that need awnsers.
Will you hold me back? If need be I will leave you behind...
OK, my questions are as follows:
Have a plan in case you can't get out of your house. Are you really sure you want to abandon what must be semi secure - after all, you ain't a Zed yet when you wake up. And where the heck is your family??
When you arrive at the compound, you seem fairly certain there will not already be someone there won't mind you breaking in. This sounds somewhat like a military facility the way you described it. No one is going to blow you away as you break in?
Next, the breaking in part. Your plan seems to revolve around your ability to hack the security and hooking your laptop up, etc... Do you already have these skills? A lot of people post and talk a lot about the ninja kill, tank riding, etc they are going to do on Z-Day, but when questioned they have no idea how to do any of the stuff they have in their plan. I want o make sure you are not giving yourself more credit than you deserve. Not attacking you here, just wanting to make sure you are grounded in reality.
Does the facility you have chosen have food and water? You alluded to fresh water, but not how it is there. Remember, if you are planning to use city water, then that will run out eventually too. It takes human beings to keep the water treatment plant running.
It sounds like you are well on your way to a securable location. Keep working on the plan, and keep tweaking it. No plan is foolproof. As you explore this site more, you will think of new things to add, change, and eliminate.

ok to explain more and hopefully answer some questions, first off..
The site I plan on using is a storage facilitie for heavy equipment used on the surrounding construction sites, not a military base.
Ive have spent numerous hours staking the place out and the largest number of people ive seen there are 3 and they were they for less than 20 minutes.
My house is a cheap brickj house that sways in a good wind has many large windows, i dont think its worth holding up in.
If my family is there, Im still going to leave them probally
As for the water there is a river a hundred yrds away from the location plus I have begun storage food and water in a secluded location near this place

with as far spread out is things are here I'm willing to bet I could walk outside during a outbreak and dance around naked for 30 minutes screaming the lyrics to it's raining men and not die.
And I live close to one of the decent size cities.
Really though, since most people live further away from the cities here the biggest issue I see is trying to keep your stability and not let being paranoid and scared from noises in the woods to make you up and try to move.

well i live in the suburbs of louisville, and its gettin huge!
but yea, i leave the immediate city area and there proballly is a decent amount of places that wouldnt get hit for a while
