Who wants to help...?

So, I've got a page set up to test the code I've put together for the ZEN tool. It's not pretty, it's not integrated in any way, it's just the barebones code: it pulls events from a feed, drops them in a database, and assigns them a score. The scores are based on the numbers you all assigned, but then it is put through a function that assigns it a value based on how long ago the event happened and how many repeats the item has gone through.

I tell you that the page exists just so that you know I'm working on it and if you are interested in helping me make this tool better, I would appreciate input. That said, it is ugly and obtuse. It gives all the information I have in the database -- this is done so that I can debug the tool and if I see an unreasonable score I should be able to figure out what is causing the score to be so high.

Check it out, let me know if you notice scores that don't make sense.

Also, I have one of you doing this for me already -- feel free to look around for another XML/RSS feed to watch. Perhaps CNN or Reuters ... I don't know. The feed I watch only has information on disasters, but if we can tap into other sources for more abstract news, that might be good as well.

Eventually I will make this so you can interact with it much more, but for now, I just want to debug it.

All that needs to be said is this: FIRE = BAD

Wow, even in this early state this is pretty cool! I can see this being a majorly useful resource.

As far as bugs, the dates listed for the entries don't make a whole lot of sense, that's the first thing I noticed in trying to see when the listed events happened.

What are the keywords that you guys would look for in a news report that would make you concerned? Keep in mind what the popular media would actually use, not what phrases YOU would use.

I am under the impression that you took the system down since there is no records or score ATM.

I'm still working out some bugs. It was giving me negative numbers for a while and not updating properly. It's probably only alpha, not beta.

I'd prefer to sit back and just be The Mighty Sanchez. Clubbing baby seals to death, spewing my own twisted politicos, and throwing rocks at people who use the term "clip" incorrectly or when I think they have failed to use the organ which is terrible to shovel.
