Post-Apocalypse meals, aside from SPAM and Spaghettios

warrantofficer13 Posted: Thu, 01/31/2008 - 21:56

What special meals would you make to treat yourself post zombie invasion? This is of course a vacation from SPAM and canned ravioli and stuff like that. This also if you do not have the usual luxuries like a fridge and the other luxuries you would have had before the invasion that you dont have after. You can only eat soo much SPAM before you start wiggin out.

MREs ROCK! Ive got 10 pounds of MREs in my basement, but yeah Cactus would also work. They actually sell cactus juice. It is said to be very nutritious. In the case of hunting and eating, id do alot of fishing and alot of barbecue steaks Smiling I just need some A1 Barbecue sauce or steak salt. Id also grow my own garden. I love tomatos and rasberries and rasberries grow like a real pesky weed. Off course separated, but yeah lots of tomato sauce and jam!

Lima beans&rice, biscuits, cornbread fritters, fried squash, tomatoes&rice, french fries, fried green tomatoes, baked squash, field peas&rice, sliced cucumbers, black eye peas&rice, baked potatoes, poor man's fruit salad, Top Ramen, and once things settle down a bit any other unlucky critters that happen to cross my path.

All of this can be made from what I usually store/plant. It isn't the whole list since I intend to purchase and store a few more things.

I would not even think about eating nothingn but Meals Resisting Exit. Unless you've got laxatives on hand.

I think this thread should be moved.....

Spaghettios rock lol, there is something to be said for bucket gardens on the roof of buildings and houses. Here in the south flat roofs are common.

I like Progresso Soup, more to it than Campbell's. Then again, Campbell's makes smaller cans so you could pack and store more individual meals. I guess it just depends on what your preference would be. (Then again, any food after z-day is going to be well appreciated).

thats why whenever i go on a FTX (field training exercise) i bring a bottle of GenaSoft it is not a laxative but it does break up your MRE remains. also the army is coming out with new MRE's that dont plug you up as badly and some of them are almost eddable.

Will you hold me back? If need be I will leave you behind...
