I voted for "light weapons", because I chose to interpret that to also mean carbines and sub-guns. If I'm far enough away to choose a scoped rifle over a carbine or a light rifle, I'm more than likely far enough away to get away on foot.
I'd count an M4a1 or an AUGa3 as a carbine, though, so my definition of a "light" weapon might be a little broader than yours.

lol yeah rockets wouldnt work too well, especially once they got up close, short range would only be good if it were a gun, unless your a super ninja like in the movies and stuff like that...explosives would work until you had to INSERT them...not many people can get a hold of explosives, light weapons are a good backup weapon but wouldnt do too much damage unless you had somethin like a desert eagle, its all up to you guyz
Selective fire bullpup rifle, good ol' AUG or Vepyr will do, semi auto and scope for taking them down one by one, highly accurate in a relatively compact design, full auto for extremely desperate situations.
