Whats so great about a machette?

Umguard Posted: Sun, 11/18/2007 - 00:23

Why would I want to choose a machette as my main CQC weapon over say a wrench or a axe?

Get up the stairs, then destroy them.

What is that?

It looks like you screwed on the collar of a standard size barbell to the leg of your coffee table. Not trying to make fun, but it looks like something that's easy to improvise, thus fast to make.

Because the Muppet Show said so.

its a piece of a curtain pole with a gear from an indy car pounded onto one end. I put in some screws for added stability. I was bored over a long weekend a couple years ago.

axe takes longer to drawback, I will take a hatchet with me as a back up but before that machete and before that katana.

personally I'd take the Machete over the Katana, because Katana's...lets face it the last combat Katana made was probably 60-70 years ago for some Yakuza €@5tard...I doubt he'll share either and it's probably blunt/rusted.

Machete are MADE for cutting trees constantly, a Katana is more focused on slashing attacks they're also larger (which could be a plus unless your trying to run/climb/escape). The point is Machete are designed for use whereas Katana are pretty much all for show these days...

I'd take Machete,Rifle,Pistol,Hatchet,Hoe,Crowbar,Wrench THEN Axe (assuming it's a Fire-axe, those are massive)...

Machete would just last longer and any idiot can use it because the extra weight on the end makes up for the users lack of strength or it builds on thier strength a Katana relies on a person knowing how to manipulate thier own body-weight to attack with force.

I don't think a machette is a very good weapon against the undead because only a decapitation would kill them, and that would be fairly hard to do with a machette because of its short range and lack of swing power...... Also I think that it would be difficult to "hack" or "slash" through the human skull to destroy its brain. This is is only if you had to destroy the zombies brain though.

Machete are used to cut down trees...they do it because they are shaped like a Scimitar however rather than curving backwards like most Arabi skimitar's are the back/less sharp edge is straight and the front/sharp edge is curved outwards, this results in it having MORE force than a full steel Axe, it could EASILY cut through a human neck, and damage a brain/skull enough to kill a human and probably a zombie...

The weight makes a person automatically swing it in the right position, because it is what they feel is the most natural -> path of least resistance.

The basics of a Machete is;

1# Durable -> flesh is weaker than wood so it should survive and it's a weapon in working production rather than Ceremonial production like a Katana
2# Easy to find/use -> the weight makes you use it to it's potential and as a listed gardening tool most home improvement/gardening places will have one for you to find.
3# Easy to move with, they come with a wooden or plastic scabbard nearly always, which you can tie to your leg/waist Samurai/Knight style or store it along your spine on your back Ninja style, so you can move easy.

Anyways the only three things that fill those three reqs better would be dedicated fighting weapons but they aren't easy to find which is why we choose a Machete.

Btw Pirates would kill Ninja because they have radar and alot of actual pirates didn;t allow drinking and were very brotherly...depends on thier environment...on the ship everyone knew eveyone and a ninja would stick out like a wart on your aunties chin...
