Inmate bites sheriff's deputy on the arm

November 11, 2007

A sheriff's deputy was taken to a hospital Saturday night after an inmate bit him on the arm at Marion County jail, officials said.

The incident occurred about 7:05 p.m., sheriff's Sgt. Jim Krieger said. Daryl Savage, 47, was in a cell on administrative segregation for inappropriate behavior when he refused to give up his sweatshirt. When Deputy Gabe Reece grabbed for the sweatshirt to remove it, Savage bit him on the left forearm, Krieger said. Reece was treated at Santiam Hospital in Stayton.

Savage likely will face charges of assault on a public safety officer, Krieger said. He remained in jail Saturday night.

The beginning of any major disaster is inane and tiny compared to the eventual outcome. Read the first 100 pages of The Stand, and you'll see what I mean.

Unless the guy bitten dies, goes crazy, or disappears I wouldn't be worried.

More worried about the bitter being an uninfected carrier. There are uninfected people who still carry STDs, why not a zombie virus/parasite/something that turns you zombie in an innate carrier form that could only be passed from one person to another (while leaving the original carrier unaffected at least until his/her natural death or maybe it never evolves in that person at all). Anything and everything is possible (just mostly improbable).
