Unwilling Death
One man's last few minutes before death during a zombie outbreak.
Running Forever
The man was out of breath. A stitch in his side. He is exhausted. He does not know how long he has ran, but he knows he as ran more then he ever has. He knows leaning against this building in the alley is nice. It helps to support his burning legs. 'Are They gone?' He thought. 'Did I run far enough away? Has to be at least a mile from where I started.' He looks at his watch. 'Yeah I was running for 24 minutes. Damn I am tired. Maybe sit and rest for a minute. No can't! Have to move. Have to walk, jog, sprint, gallop, crawl, drive, anything to get away from Them. I can't run forever. Have to find a spot to stay. Somwhere safe.'
Silent Dreams
Its head twitched and snapped back against its chest as it began to crawl forward.

Empty, Endless
There was something strange in the air. The year old scars on my wrists ached as though they had just been slashed with a razor-sharp blade. I wondered if the pain was a harbinger of what was yet to come. Despite it being a warm summer night, my heart felt like a cold stone sinking in my chest. I walked the empty streets to my friend Jessicka’s house. She had called me the night before, and invited me over. There had been a tinge of despair in her voice; a mourning for something lost. As I walked past the ocean, I couldn’t help but notice that the sea was unusually calm. Silence replaced the sound of the waves colliding with the shore. I felt as if I were the only thing existing that night. The rest of the world appeared to be a cheaply painted backdrop. I approached Jessicka’s home, and my heavy heart sank further. The three story building looked the same as it always had, but something dark and ancient emanated from it. Everything sour and bitter in the world seemed to ooze out of the cracks in the sideboards, and a dank scent of decay filled my nostrils. A wooden staircase on the side of the house led straight to Jessicka’s top floor room. She had told me earlier that I could let myself in, so I did just that. Upon entering Jessicka’s room, I spotted her sitting on the edge of her bed. Her dark eyes greeted me with a hollow stare, sunken into a pale emaciated face framed by black matted hair. I took a seat beside her and attempted to make conversation, but she gave me no response. When I gave Jessicka a hug, she accepted my embrace, but I could feel her bones under a thin layer of skin. There was no life in her.

The Virus
"I have already told you!", screamed Dr. Barclay, the top research biologist at a secret government testing facility for bio-weapons. "When we have to feed them, we put on protective gear and never stand too near the cage. NOW GO FEED THEM!" "You meen when I feed them," Isaiah said under his breath as he walked away. "I always have to feed them." Which was true. Dr. Barclay rarely went any where near the test subjects. Isaiah sulked over to the refridgerator and glopped out some of the disgusting gooey meat they fed to all the subjects. Even the cute little bunny rabbits ate the runny meat.
One Day you'll realize that ...... Your Screwed!!!
The day was like any other day. The sun came up and the wind was blowing gently through the trees. Although everything seemed normal, it was far from. The thing that caught me off guard was the person I was watching walking down the road was hit by an on coming car. The car never even slowed down just plowed right through the man. The man's body went airborne at the time of impact resembling a life sized bloody rag doll flying through the air and landing violently on the pavement. The sound of the landing seemed so loud to me that I actually found myself covering my ears and wincing. The bloody mass that was in a tangled and mangled ball of increasing gore, seemed very much dead. However the man began to move again with erratic movement almost like small seizures. He soon found his way off the road but never screamed or made a noise. I wasn't sure of what I was seeing until he made eye contact. I do mean eye contact as one his eyes had been removed from socket and was staring at the ground. This man WAS dead but animated, never changing expression, never crying out in pain. The man had to be dead, he had broken both legs, one arm was hanging by tendon and muscle only, and a portion of his face was missing showing the few teeth left in his head through what used to be his cheek. He noticed me when I finally called out to him. He never answered just groaned and used his good arm to pull himself towards me. Souless eyes looking at me like I was meat. He made it half way across the road when the dump truck came through and crushed his head. He quit moving this time and didn't move again. Had I really seen one? Could it have really been a zombie? I'd better prepare just in case.........
chapter 2(days 4-5)
we had a breach in security last night, evidently some people tried leading the zombies out into the woods last night and dragged a small group of them towards our fences, about 9 of them made it through the barricades and killed 2 people on guard duty,we killed the zombies and made sure the bodies were put into pits. the only problem was the guards came back when no one was paying attention,in the heat of the moment i even forgot to put a bullet between their eyes. my friend kody was bitten and had to be killed,he was a good guy not even 17 when he was bit. im starting to feel that everyone was
chapter three,the end
we had a lot of good people leave today as they wanted to try things on their own rather than be in a group and see their friends die,i think they are foolish for this but i cant change their minds. we are going on our first scouting and scrounging mission, the people who left took a good chunk of our supplies which was rightfully their's but everything around here is someone else's. i cant dwell on that fact that much if i expect everyone to survive,we are going into salem to a sporting goods store to get some ammo and freeze dried food because it lasts long and is a full meal that gives us all we need,we might also get some tree stands for watch points to put in the trees along the road,if the zombies couldnt reach someone high up then they could pick off a rather large group one by one with enough ammo.
Poppa Rock's seige
"Hrm, that bad, huh?" Poppa Rock watched news of the infestation on his black-and-white television set. He had been following the story for quite some time. Partly because the pretty blonde news anchor had such a way of telling the story, but mostly because the story could directly impact him and his operation. "The 'Zombie Assault' continues today, as thousands of recently deceased victims of the virus rise after falling and attack the living. Niles Karver reporting," A young man with brown hair and prominent chin came on, standing in a Baton Rouge street amid National Guardsmen and para-military forces. He spoke officiously in a fake british accent. "Yes, Clara. We've made a barricade here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The zombies numbers seem to be growing, despite heavy fire fromconcerted attacks by locals and armed forces. While many are slow and shambling, are large number are fatser, capable of running and even jumping long distances. These we've termed the 'leaders'. If you look behind me--" he stopped to gesture to a ragtag line of men, some in civialian wear and some in fatigues, kneeling behind a makeshift wall of cars, stalls, and other miscellany, "-- you'll see our first line of defense preparing to--oh, God! They're here!" |
